Brand Yourself as an Author Online: Tips for Self-published Authors
The internet is filled with tips for self published authors. Today, I am aiming to shortlist significant instructions for anyone who is looking for to promote their self published book online.
Tips for self-published authors: Goodreads.com Quotes.
Your book is available for sale on kindle and many readers have the option to highlight particular quotes within your book. There is an option to check all popular highlights in your kindle account.
After selecting all the highlights, go to the Goodreads.com and set up an author’s profile. There should be a section with favourite quotes. Select ‘add a quote’ and paste all the quotes from your book to that section. You would be able to add the name of the author and the books where the quotes are coming from. If you are looking for good publicity and excellent exposure then it’s important to do this because Goodreads.com provides one of the largest database of authors’ quotes online. In addition to this, it has a high page rank which means that your quotes could appear on other websites. Goodreads.com also allows for the results to appear immediately on the Google search results.
Tips for self-published authors: Goodreads.com Profile Settings
It’s crucial to set up an account on Goodreads.com if you are looking for exceptional publicity of your book. First of all, you should set up an author account where you will list all your books. Upload a picture and a short bio before you start adding books that you are reading, about to read or have read. Write a book review and participate in the groups connecting with other authors.
Tips for self-published authors: Book Bloggers
Many people love to read books and the internet is filled with blogs that review books from different genres. Send an email introducing yourself and talk about your book. Politely ask if they would be willing to review your book. A lot of book bloggers probably already have a lot of followers which means that if they review your book, you will have a chance to gain a lot of new readers. After that, the sales will follow.
Tips for self-published authors: Social Media
Interacting in Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook is important to brand yourself as an author on all the social media sites. You can start by retweeting other people’s tweets in order to get followers. If you find an interesting blog post, tweet about it. Participate in author’s pages on Facebook and post valuable information on your page. Create a fan page which centres all your books. This is just a small part of social media marketing. More information will follow in another post.
